On my mind Hello!
Well, anyone who has bothered to watch will have noticed that I don't post frequently. The fact is, it's not really that I don't want to write so much but that in some cases I can't justify the effort (ie. need a better medium or purpose) or in other cases the issues would be too personal or sometimes it seems too narcissistic in a way. So, does that mean I won't blog at all? Not necessarily but you can be sure that there is a lot more stuff that I don't mention. And it does bother me in way, not writing about it because sometimes I really want to. Really, the most relevant or interesting [edit: personal] things will probably never be spoken of here. I'd rather speak face-to-face with someone I trust than ramble here at length. Balancing what should be kept personal is tough. I usually try to err on the side of caution but I overdo it sometimes I think--it's not exactly intentional but I can be very shy. I just really have to know you and trust you and like you.
I'm grateful for all my friends (both furs and non-furs alike). Speaking of furs though, this last year in the local furry fandom has been simply amazing and wonderful! A lot has happened and the fragmented fandom has started to come together! A lot of happy memories and I am very lucky to be a part of it! I hope more good times will follow and wish they never stop! I've made some absolutely wonderful friends--sometimes I'm afraid to believe it because it's so wonderful! I wish I could see them more often, and especially one ....well, that's a story for another place. Point is the fandom's brought much joy to my life. I've been a fur for long time but it's only recently I've thought to go out and actually meet people. I guess the stars were aligned--let's hope that continues!
Best wishes to everyone!

AC 2008 Well, I had so much to write about AC last year that I fizzled out with information overload! The plan was to write a long and descriptive account of my experience there. Ah well! I shall post what little remains of the draft I'd saved at the time. Suffice it to say I had fun! :3
[The following was written in summer 2008]
I'm back from my first AC today. I'm very glad I went; I had such a wonderful time. It was sheer awesomeness! I had been looking forward to and enjoyed saying hello again to Heather Bruton and Diana Stein whom I had first met and hadn't seen nor talked to since C-ACE. Additionally, I had the pleasure of meeting several other artists (such as Dark Natasha and Hibbary) who before then I had only known by their work. There were a few faces that I had seen before at C-ACE and I took the opportunity to say hello whenever I saw them. AC is my second furry con. and as before I'm struck by how friendly and personable everyone is. I hope I get the chance to say hello to them again.

Les Mystérieuses Cités d'Or It's been awhile since my last post but here I am again. For background info, for those that aren't familiar with the TV series, you can find a detailed description of the show on one of my DeviantArt journal entries.
The great news that spurs me to write today is that there is a real possibility that after 24 years the series will finally be continued! In anticipation of the continuation the studio is also re-animating the original production in 3D! Here is some preliminary artwork I found on the leading site for MCOG (Mysterious Cities of Gold).

Conventions and Other Stuff Well, I'm slowly updating my new livejournal account. I'm not sure how often I'll be posting or what will happen. That said, hello! :-)
In my first post I mentioned I was going to explain why I got myself an account here. In my zest to describe my great time at C-ACE it seems I didn't address the reason directly. I want to be able to keep in contact with the people at cons that I meet and like and after learning that livejournal is a popular way to do that I thought I'd put my foot in the door. I've known of it's existence for a few years but I'd never taken a good look at it, being preoccupied with other stuff.
I've decided (although that was pretty much a given, especially after experiencing C-ACE) that if there's any way I can I really want to go to some of the other conventions like Anthrocon or FurFright for example. I'm reading up on what other cons are out there, furry or otherwise. It's not something I've looked into before and I'm curious and eager to see what kind of events are happening. And that brings me to the reason I'm posting this entry today.
I'd wanted a better idea of where these cons are geographically so I thought to start plotting them on a map to see how far away they are. Whenever I learn of a con that looks interesting I'll be adding it to the map. You can take a look at it here. It's probably already been done somewhere by someone but since I'm not sure "where" that 'somewhere' might be I might as well go for it!

1st Entry Hello there and welcome to my journal!
Where to begin? How about with what prompted me to create an account here? Yes? You agree? Great! I know this entry's been a bit late in coming but better late than never, right? I've just been so busy with "reality".
The weekend of June 8-10, 2007 marks what I hope is an auspicious beginning of great things to come. You see, this was the date of this year's (and, unfortunately, the last) C-ACE (Capital Anthropomorphics and Cartooning Expo) convention. It's hard to put into words what a remarkable and wonderfully happy experience it was for me to be there. It was my first convention and I enjoyed it tremendously! After it was over, I remember thinking it was more fun and meaningful than Disney! For the small con that it was it had a lot of heart. The people there were very friendly and welcoming. It felt weird in a good otherworldly sort of way to be surrounded by people who shared the same interest in furries and fantasy that I did. I was just a bit dazed with a smigin of incredulity at finding myself amongst people that held the same passionate interest and familiarity with the culture. It was so cool! I wish I could feel that good more often.
I had the pleasure of meeting Heather Bruton who is an extraordinarily talented artist (one of my favorities) and a very very wonderful person; I'm so happy I got to meet her. I also met Diana Stein, another very talented artist and wonderful person. Will Sanborn was there to; I remember reading some of his enjoyable stories years ago. I hope I have the chance to meet them again. I had a wonderful time talking to them and Heather and Diana made some fantastic sketches for me, which I love! I know it's a bit of a long-shot but I wish I could be better friends with them--I liked them. As Shakespeare wrote: Perchance to dream?
I met Loopy and attended his meet and greet panel. Another talented, interesting, and nice person. His anecdotes were quite intersting. For instance, at one point he started talking about Zen (or something like that) where you have the point which you are at now, the point where you want to be and where you end up is somewhere in the middle. He also had a few amusing tales about how he would sometimes parade downtown dressed in a costume. I got him to do a drawing for me as well. I love it to!
Writers Fiona Patton and Violette Malan were there. I attended their meet and greet panel and the one on getting published. I enjoyed both and found the panel on getting published to be very good. I discovered that Violette has a keen wit which I quite liked. Unrelated to my last sentence, she had an emerald necklace and nails. At one point in the dealers room I asked her if she had purposely painted her nails green to make them look like claws (which I was thinking would be a cool thing to do).
I met Feli who hosts his own radio station (Dark Bunny Radio) and generously provided music during parts of the con. He was wearing a pair of bunny ears which, because they were long and black, reminded me of the ears from the fictional character Goofy. Obviously, (ok, well, not necessarily but I was a bit happy-hyper) I pointed and said "Goofy ears" which I tried, I fear, somewhat unsecessfully to explain. (Sorry Feli!) It was all said in good spirt and I managed at least to communicate that successfully.
Two people had bat costumes which I thought look really neat! Having read Silverwing, Firewing, Darkwing by Kenneth Oppal, and watched the TV adaptation in the past helped to increase my sense of awe. It's a very good series. Check it out!
I met Viper Half-Dragon, Chubbs, Dixie, Max Blackrabbit, Gnaw, Horse Feathers, and other wonderful people. I hope to see everyone again and get to know them better. I certainly want to attend Camp Feral, and Anthrocon in Montreal as well as other similar cons. I mean, I've been into this stuff since the summer of 1997 so it's about time I went to a con! I'm delighted that C-ACE turned out so well!
Thank you all for making it great and being so cool!
